The Great Crate Race at Brighton Speedway Coming up this Weekend

After months of planning, and a lot of hard work by everyone involved, the first annual Great Crate Race is set for this coming Saturday night at the Brighton Speedway.  Entries continue to roll in as we get closer to the September 17th date.

Qualifying events have already taken place at some tracks for this first annual event, and Max Blair, Lee Gill, Phil Potts, Sean Beardsley, Tim Sears Jr., Larry Wight and Greg Belyea have earned themselves a guaranteed starting spot for the Great Crate Race.  Max Blair earned his by winning a Fastrak Late Model Series Race at Humberstone Speedway on May 29th.  Lee Gill qualified at Chapman's Can Am Motorsports Park in the Go Nuclear Challenge Series debut back on June 10th.  Phil Potts qualified for the race by winning the Canada Day Championship at Brighton Speedway while Sean Beardsley qualified at a Brewerton Speedway Special Napa Know How show.  Tim Sears Jr. and Larry Wight qualified through Go Nuclear Challenge Series events at Brewerton and Fulton Speedway last month, while Greg Belyea picked up the final qualifying spot at Mohawk Raceway earlier this month.

The much-anticipated first annual Great Crate Race at Brighton Speedway is just over two weeks away, and the pre entry lists have been filing in for the September 17th event that will see the winner take home $5000 of the posted $20000 purse.  The 65 lap event, in recognition of the 65th Anniversary of title sponsor McDougall's Insurance and Financial will be the biggest race for the Crate Late Model division in this area.

The first annual Great Crate Race at Brighton Speedway is less then two months away, and already early entry sheets are starting to come back to the Speedway from eager participants who want their shot at the $5000 to win, 65 lap event with a total payout of $20000.  The September 17th event at the Brighton Speedway will be one of the biggest races in the history of Crate Late Model racing in our area.

Max Blair Takes the 1st Guaranteed Spot for the Great Crate Race

Max Blair bested a field of 16 Fastrak Late Models this past Sunday at the New Humberstone Speedway in the first ever Fastrak Canadian Nationals to guaranty himself a starting spot in September 17th's Great Crate Race at Brighton Speedway!

 

The Pennsylvavian 21 year old racer is young but comes with a ton of racing experience and has been racing Late Models since 2007.  For a short career Blair has a long list of accomplishments including 2 Fastrak Weekly National Championships and 2 Fastrak Northeast Championships!  Racing runs thick in Max's blood as he is the son of the popular WON11 Late Model Champion Robbie Blair who is coming off back to back Championships himself in the O'Reilly's AllStar Late Model series.

Max will look to take on the best Late Model racers from Ontario, New York and Pennsylvainia as they decend on the Brighton Speedway for the first ever McDougall Insurance and Financial Great Crate race boasting a $20,000.00 plus purse with the winners share being $5,000.00 to win.  [read more]

Qualifying Races Announced for September 17th Great Crate Race at Brighton Speedway

One of the biggest Crate Late Model events in this area is set for Saturday, September 17th at the Brighton Speedway.  The Great Crate Race will see cars from all over eastern Ontario and New York State, and beyond battle it out for $5000 to win, and an unprecedented $20000 purse, plus lap money and contingency awards.  Brighton Speedway and organizers of the Great Crate Race have announced that five events throughout the season will be set aside as qualifiers for this first annual McDougall’s Insurance & Financial 65 lap event, including one race at Brighton during the Canada Day long weekend.

The first qualifier will take place at the Humberstone Speedway in Port Colbourne, Ontario on Sunday, May 22nd.  The race will be a part of the FASTRACK Late Model Series, and the winner will get a provisional starting spot for the Great Crate Race, if necessary.  The next qualifier will take place at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park in LaFargeville, New York as part of the Go Nuclear Late Model Series on June 10th, and then June 24th at Brewerton Speedway for another Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge series race. Often, the hardest part about operating a racetrack, or even putting on a big event happens long before the race even takes place.  The planning, the scheduling, the securing of sponsors, and making sure everything is in place takes weeks and months of hard work from many different people before a major event can come to fruition.

The Great Crate Race, as it has been labeled will take place on Saturday, September 17th at Brighton Speedway in Brighton, Ontario.  Late Model racer Greg Belyea approached Brighton Speedway owner Mark Rinaldi about hosting such a prestigious event, the largest of its type in this area, and soon after, the news of the event began to reach local race teams, and the reaction was very positive.  [read more]
